Open call - The best MP3 and video player combo

Ok, I have a question for anyone reading this. I don't care if you know me or not.

Here is the scenario.

1)You have a budget of $200 to $300 dollars to spend on a MP3/movie (not video recording capability, I don't care about that).

2)Also you have a budget of up to $200 for accessory speaker system.

What would you get?

I have considered Zune,Creative, Samsung PS2, Ipod to name a few. I'm open to considering anything though.

Thanks.

The ipods are probably going to be updated next week. Don't buy anything until after Apple's announcement.

Otherwise, the best stuff out there is the Sansa line by Sandisk.

Ok, Thanks for the info.

Why is Sansa the best?

if you get an ipod, get the ihome as the accessory speaker system. We have two and they are great.

Thanks for the suggestions. I really appreciate them all.

Still haven't heard why the Sansa is the best...

I looked it up and on paper it didn't appear better than anything else, actually looked like much less for the same $.

Customer feedback on the Sansa was very good at the bookstore. We sold several of the Clip model this spring and summer. The display is very good - though not as good as the nano. Also, the battery life is 15-20 hours (at least according to my buddy Jason who bought two).

The Zune bombed both rounds at the bookstore. We couldn't give them away.

I got an Ipod Touch 8gb today. One of our bookstore students didn't want the free Ipod touch with her Mbk Pro purchase so I asked if I could have it. It is pretty fuckin' cool. I just get to wait now for the $300 rebate check from Apple to pay off the credit card.

Good to know about the Zune, ia hd really considered 1 of those.

Also, thanks for the heads up on ipod.

And you are lucky as hell!
I wish I could get a free ipod touch.

Let me know how you like it.

Thanks.

The Zune wouldn't have been a good choice. I haven't used the Sansa's at all, but have played with Creative, Zune and iPod. Of the three, I would rank ipod #1 with Creative a #2.

Thanks for all the great info everyone. I appreciate it.

I'm going to wait for a while and see what happens with the ipods.

Thanks again.
